📝 Day 29: My Australia Plan

自分のオーストラリア計画を語る

Planning My Dream Trip to Australia

If I were to plan a trip to Australia, I would start by considering what matters most to me as a traveller. Having researched various destinations, I have concluded that a three-week itinerary would be ideal. Not only would I visit Sydney and Melbourne, but I would also explore the lesser-known regions of Tasmania and the Kimberley. Located in the southern hemisphere, Australia offers a reversed seasonal calendar, which means that visiting during the Japanese winter would allow me to experience an Australian summer. What I find most appealing is the diversity of experiences available within a single country. Whoever travels to Australia for the first time is often overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the continent. If I had unlimited time, I would drive along the entire coastline, stopping at whichever towns caught my attention. Having saved enough money, I would allocate my budget carefully, prioritising accommodation near national parks rather than luxury hotels in city centres.

📍 Travel Planning Centre, Sydney
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I visited this travel planning centre before embarking on my three-week road trip, and I'm so glad I did. Had it not been for their expert advice, I would have missed some incredible hidden gems along the way. The staff recommended that I visit the Blue Mountains on a weekday, which turned out to be brilliant advice as there were hardly any crowds. What impressed me the most was their detailed knowledge of regional Australia. They suggested that I take the coastal route through the Sapphire Coast rather than the highway, and it was absolutely stunning. Whoever put together their recommended itineraries deserves a medal. Not only did they help me plan my route, but they also arranged discounted accommodation at several eco-lodges. Having completed my trip, I can confidently say that their guidance transformed what could have been an ordinary holiday into an extraordinary adventure. I would recommend this service to whoever is planning their first Australian road trip.

Aussie Travel Lingo

オーストラリアでは旅行関連の独特な表現があります。'arvo' は afternoon、'brekkie' は breakfast、'servo' は service station(ガソリンスタンド)を意味します。ロードトリップ中に 'Pull over at the next servo for some brekkie' と言われたら、「次のガソスタに寄って朝ごはんにしよう」という意味です。また、'bush' は田舎・未開地を指し、'going bush' は自然の中へ出かけることを意味します。

仮定法で夢を語ろう

旅行の計画や夢を語るとき、仮定法は非常に便利です。'If I were to visit Australia...'(もしオーストラリアを訪れるとしたら)、'If I had more time, I would explore Tasmania.'(もっと時間があればタスマニアを探検するのに)。また、'I wish I could see the Great Barrier Reef.'(グレートバリアリーフを見られたらなあ)のように wish を使った表現も練習しましょう。過去の後悔には 'If I had known about this place, I would have visited it.'(この場所を知っていたら訪れていたのに)と仮定法過去完了を使います。

🎭 ユキ(Yuki)がオーストラリア人の友人リアム(Liam)と、オーストラリア旅行の計画について話しています。
A (Koa):
Liam, I've been thinking about visiting Australia next year. If you were to recommend one region, which would it be?
B:
Ah, that's a tricky one! It depends on what you're after. If I were you, I'd consider Queensland for the reef, or Victoria for the food and culture.
A (Koa):
What I'm most interested in is experiencing both nature and city life. Is that possible within two weeks?
B:
Absolutely! Not only can you explore Sydney and Melbourne, but you can also fit in a few days at the Blue Mountains or the Great Ocean Road.
A (Koa):
That sounds amazing. Had I started planning earlier, I could have saved more money by now.
B:
No worries! There are heaps of budget-friendly options. Whoever told you Australia is always expensive hasn't done proper research.
A (Koa):
Really? I assumed accommodation would be quite costly, especially near popular tourist spots.
B:
Not necessarily. If you stayed at holiday parks or booked eco-lodges in advance, you'd save a fortune. They're located in stunning natural settings too.
A (Koa):
Having heard your advice, I'm feeling much more confident about this trip. Would you suggest renting a car?
B:
Definitely! A road trip is the best way to see the country. Just remember, we drive on the left side here, which is the same as Japan.
A (Koa):
Oh, that's a relief! If driving were on the opposite side, I would have been too nervous to try.
B:
You'll be fine, mate! Whichever route you choose, you're in for an unforgettable experience. I reckon you'll love every minute of it.
