Cairns is in tropical North Queensland. It is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. The reef is one of the world's natural wonders. You can go snorkelling or diving to see beautiful fish and coral. Cairns also has a rainforest nearby. The weather is hot and humid all year. Many backpackers visit Cairns for adventure tourism.

I went on a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef! The boat ride was about 90 minutes. I did snorkelling and saw so many colourful fish. I even saw a sea turtle! The water was so clear and warm. I also tried diving for the first time. The coral was beautiful but some parts were damaged. This was the best day of my trip!
