The Gold Coast, which is located south of Brisbane, has been recognised as one of the world's premier surfing destinations. The coastline, which stretches for approximately seventy kilometres, has been blessed with consistent waves that attract surfers from all over the world. Surfers Paradise, which is the most famous area, has been developed into a bustling tourist hub with towering high-rise buildings. However, the beaches that are preferred by experienced surfers are often found further south, near Burleigh Heads and Coolangatta. Surfing lessons, which are offered by numerous schools along the beach, have been designed for beginners who have never tried the sport before. The annual surfing competitions that are held on the Gold Coast have been attended by professional athletes from many countries. The surf culture, which defines the region's identity, has shaped the lifestyle of local residents for generations.
