Opening a bank account is one of the first things that should be done when you arrive in Australia. Several major banks, which include Commonwealth Bank, ANZ, Westpac, and NAB, have been used by many international visitors. You are required to bring your passport and one more form of ID. If you open an account within six weeks of arriving, the process is made simpler. A debit card, which can be used for everyday purchases, will be sent to your address. Most banks have introduced contactless payment, so you can tap your card or phone to pay. Fees are charged differently by each bank, so it is recommended that you compare options first. Online banking has become very popular in Australia, and most things can be done through an app on your phone.
